FM is now SWBL

We have changed our name from Frank Manning Baseball to Southwest Baseball League. This change will not result in any recognizable differences to your child's playing experience and we are looking forward to another wonderful year of baseball that you have come to expect from this organization

Did you miss the Walkup Registrations and Skills Assessments?  Good News!  We are holding more registrations before our coaches pick players in the Draft league.   In addition, we are taking team registrations as well.   As always we have our online registration available until February 20, 2010.     Players that are going into the Draft league will need to attend the last Skills Assessments at Irwin J. Lambka Park on Feb. 13, 11am.  If any players missed the previous skills assessments, this is a great opportunity to be assessed.   All players playing in the Draft League MUST attend the skills assessments or they will be drafted in the lower portion of the draft or may be placed on a waiting list.

Skills Assessments "tryouts" are really player evaluations. Player evaluations are held so that teams can be balanced. Managers and board members observe the players so that teams can be selected with a good mix of pitchers, fielders, and hitters.

T-Ball players do not have attend tryouts.  The players currently not on a team are assessed so each coach can draft to build a team based on their knowledge of the score from the assessment.

The players skill sets evaluated are as follows:  1.  Throwing, 2.  Hitting, 3.  Fielding Infield, 4.  Fielding Outfield, 5. Running.  Please bring your baseball gear to the tryouts and plenty of water.

For the Spring 2010 Season, Southwest Baseball League now has options as to what skill level they will play and will not be constricted by certain boundaries.   Players from all over the city can now play in the Southwest Baseball League.  Below is a summary of the different leagues that are offered

Can I bring my own team in? PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 12 January 2010 09:08

Yes.  Due to our successful increase in youth players from our Fall 2009 league, teams are allows to come in and play in our league, no matter what part of the city they come from.  They will play in the American Division of our league where the competition is more intense. Our policy is not to have boundries and allow kids to play that are not in our school district as well as kids from out of town.  Our goal is to provide youth baseball for everyone in the city in the American Division, not just the a few zip codes on the Westside of El Paso.
