It's an exciting time around the ball fields at the start of the new year. With a new year comes a new name...Southwest Baseball League. Due to the phenomenal growth success we experienced in the fall, the Board of Directors at Frank Manning Baseball have voted on and approved a name change for the league. We want to allow all teams in our area to be a part of our league as well as offer parents a choice of which division of baseball they want their child to play in. This will better serve the youth baseball community not only on the west side of El Paso, but in all areas by bringing a higher level of competition for the more advanced players and keep the fun and excitement of our recreational division intact. For our recreational(draft) division the change will not result in any recognizable differences to your child's playing experience and we are looking forward to another wonderful year of baseball that you have come to expect from this organization. For the competitive (teams) divisions, this will allow the more advanced players to play in a league that provides a higher cailber of play as well as allowing coaches to form their own teams. We are also teaming up with USTSA-USA(ustsa.net) to provide a greater opportunity for players to play out of town tournaments as well as host our very own tournaments for all teams in and out of our area. These will be national tournaments in which we hope to see greater participation from teams outside of our area. We are motivated and very excited that we can finally offer players from not only the westide but all areas the opportunities they deserve without having to travel so much for practice and games. We also excited to bring in teams from other areas to experience El Paso's best ballpark and atmosphere. |
